Two Most Romantic things you must do in Udaipur

Udaipur is a visitor’s dream with its resplendent palaces, charming havelis , bewitching azure lakes, crowded, chaotic yet colorful and vibrant old-town streets, pretty greens and sprawling spread of hills a bit here, a bit there and quite everywhere.

However most people miss out on two offbeat and most romantic experiences to have in Udaipur. The romance begins in the evening when the sky casts a colorful spread of the setting sun and peaks when night-fall silently dresses Udaipur with dazzling lights.

Best Sunset in Udaipur

Sitting atop a hill and watching the sprawl of its two lakes -Pichola & Fatehsagar, the palaces, grand hotels and the monuments, while the sun tries to go away reluctantly, would be anyone’s most romantic dream. But which hill? Machla Hill!

A ropeway from Deendayal Upadhyay Park goes to the Machala hill. Reach there a little before evening and look at the drama in the sky and dainty Udaipur down the hill.

Before giving a sensuous kiss to Udaipur, the sun looks in her eye and the warmth and the vermilion of love spreading out to her.

If I could kiss the sun, while it was waiting for the still shying-to-come night, I am sure I will gladly surrender whole of my day that has passed and begin my next day on an empty canvas. The sun would bring a new dawn with him. It would hug me and write its own will with radiance and warmth on my canvas.

Sun adorns all the color that my art teacher once taught – Vermilion red, orange and yellow and smudges them well to not let anyone turn dominating it!

Sun bids adieu, but its last fiery kiss and tight embrace lingers on Udaipur’s lips and heart as twilight whispers the unspoken love.

But Udaipur does not become gloomy and dark in separation. It knows it is temporary. It smiles and begins to get ready to meet night, who will bring a dawn again.

Spending late evening at Ambrai Ghat

If the views from Machchla hill give a sweeping vista, this ghat gives a 270 degree view of Pichola and the most rich residences of its banks at an arm’s length.

Where is Ambrai Ghat?

Ambrai Ghat is a ghat on lake Pichola in the old city of Udaipur.

From Ghantaghar or Jagdish temple or Bagore Ki Haveli, or the City palace, wherever you are in the old town of Udaipur, ask people for way to Chand Pol Pulia. It is a bridge on the Lake Pichola. Cross this bridge to reach the other bank of lake. Now ask people for Ambrai Ghat.

From Jagdish temple to Ambrai ghat is 800 meter, 10 minutes walk through the colorful and vibrant streets of old town.
